Narrows Point: Land Details
There is something about a point of land that is attractive and comforting to those of us interested in land. Maybe it is the feeling of controlling your surroundings; a moat , if you will. An island has that comfortable feeling. An island has a disadvantage - it is almost too isolated - access and modern amenities become very difficult. A point of land is in between, almost a moat but still the benefit of flush toilets.
Little Narrows Point has the moat but still has easy access to municipal water (the water line actually crosses the property). It has a power line that crosses the property going to a lighthouse - ahh, yes we have a lighthouse too. We have built a road into the parcel. A 17 acre point of land with water, power and road - my kind of moat.
And that is not all ...
: A short ferry ride to get to your moat: Little Narrows ferry - a 24 hour-a-day, 365 days a year government-operated ferry provides access across Little Narrows Channel. Located a couple of kilometres from the Trans Canada # 105 Highway, the Little Narrows ferry is a scenic, welcome, five minute break from driving. Your point of land is one minute from the ferry landing.
: This 17 acre parcel is a significant piece of real estate - large enough for a resort, condo development, family estate or just keep it and watch it increase in value. Better than stocks & more fun than gold and likely a better investment than either.
: Over 3000 feet of Bras d'Or Lake shore frontage on Little Narrows Channel and Ross Cove
: Little Narrows Channel runs along the north side of the point. With a depth of 45 feet you will have no problem getting your yacht to your property (you can even take it to Bermuda in the winter).
: If your boat is a bit smaller you might want to take it across the channel and into Denas Pond - a well known fishing hole with some of the clearest and cleanest water you will ever see - trout for dinner.
: If frying up fish for dinner is not what you have in mind, how about a quick trip into Baddeck (30 minute drive including the 5 minute ferry crossing) for dinner and golf at the Bell Bay Golf Club .
: And the scenery -
West- Look past the light house to watch the ferry and a church on the north side of the Channel.
North- Toward the northside mountain (900 elevation) - Spectacular fall foliage view.
East- Long view down St Patricks Channel towards Baddeck and the Great Bras d'Or.
South- Ross Cove stretching along the south side of the point provides a great sheltered cove for kayaking / canoeing or just lying in the rowboat with a fishing line over the side.
: There is not a lot of tide at Little Narrows (being at the upper reaches of the Bras d'Or Lakes) but tidal waters squeezing through this narrow channel heading for Whycocomagh Bay and coming back out of the bay at low tide makes for active water and active fishing for the eagles.
Bald Headed Eagles are plentiful along the shores of the Bras D'Or Lakes - The Little Narrows Channel is a favorite eagle fishing spot.
: About two kilometers down the channel (east - towards Baddeck) a wharf for loading gypsum boats brings large ships within sight of the end of the point. the ships provide interesting viewing as they maneuver in the channel. The decline in the US housing market has resulted in less activity at this wharf
: The central location of property means you are within an hour from numerous shopping, golfing, hiking and cultural activities. We invite you to review the "Why retire / live in the Baddeck area" page for the wide range in amenities.
