Glencoe Blueberry Acreage: Land Details
Aerial Photography taken in the 1930's indicate the house was standing and the fields surrounding the house were under active cultivation. Later aerial photos indicate that much of the land was reclaimed by the forest by mid 2000's.
When Rare Earth Venture acquired the property in 2008 a 5 acre field was cleared for blueberry production. Blueberry plant indications on land surrounding this 5 acres show potential for expansion on the size of this blueberry field.
Two large stands of forest land on this parcel show significant wood value. The northwestern stand ( 30 acres approx.) is treed with spruce, fir and larch. The southwestern stand is a mixture of hardwood and softwood. These stands can remain as they are or harvested for wood value.
The site of the cleared field offers a great northerly view to the distant Mabou Highlands.
The road to this property was rebuilt in 2008 and offers easy access by any type of vehicle.
Potential purchasers should be aware that although this parcel is easily accessible, it is remote and may not suit all people.

Glencoe Mills was once a thriving farming community. Farming has died out in Glencoe Mills as it has in much of rural Cape Breton. Glencoe Mills is now more widely known for holding popular square dances at the local Glencoe Mills Community Hall.
